Before visiting a place recommended here or elsewhere, you are advised to check with local authorities to learn about necessary safety precautions. Places are recommended for the purpose of informing you about their existence. We do not certify that any place mentioned in this web site is without risk.

SAFETY/WARNINGS

Cliff

The `Ikena Kai suite is on a steep cliff that leads to the ocean. There is no barrier or fence above the cliff. Therefore, if a person walks or falls off the cliff, serious injury and even death could result. We recommend that extreme caution be exercised when near the edge of the cliff. A person under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or with impaired judgement is advised to seek accommodation elsewhere. If travelling with children, appropriate consideration for these natural risks should be taken into account and children should remain under adult control at all times.

Ocean

The ocean, with its mystical power to inspire and relax, is one of the most special things about Kaua`i. There are many safe and fun places to enjoy the ocean. At the same time, it is important to recognize and respect the power of the ocean. Kaua`i is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It is farther from another major landmass than any other place in the world. Natural conditions can produce dangerous currents and waves at some coastal areas. These forces of nature have the power to kill. We strongly urge you to purchase a good local guidebook for information about beach safety, assess your personal swimming skill, and talk with lifeguards before venturing into the ocean. Never swim alone. Never put your back to the ocean. Never loose control of children.

Personal Property

Kaua`i is a peaceful and welcoming place, but it is always wise to take a few simple precautions to protect personal property from theft. In particular, we recommend that you keep valuables with you at all times. Do not leave valuables in open view in the suite or in your rental car.

Other Risks

This section is intended to provide a summary of precautions that are recommended to address a selected set of risks. This section does not cover all of the potential sources for injury that can be encountered when on a trip. We strongly recommend that you purchase a good local guidebook for safety information that will be most relevant to your chosen endeavors.
